To coincide with World Mental Health Day 2010 the members of Newcastle and Gateshead Art Studio in association with Newcastle City Library collectively created an exhibition of work inspired by the theme of The Circle.



Circles have been known since before the beginning of recorded history.



In Hinduism and Buddhism Samsara is the name given to the endless cycle of birth and death.



Early science was connected to the theme of circles. Particularly Geometry and astrology where it is believed that in a circle something divine and seamless can be found.



The legendary table of King Arthur was said to be circular. With no head of the table emphasizing the shared voice and equality of the group.
